This is the story of the Paradox Valley Railroad as modeled in On30. The Paradox Valley supposedly connected with the Rio Grande Southern at Placerville and ran northwest towards and through the towns of Norwood, Bedrock, Paradox, and Spanish Valley Utah, Moab Utah and finely connects with the Rio Grande Western at Brendel Utah with a logging line taking off from the town of paradox.
We are modeling this fictitious narrow gauge railroad in the as you guessed it the 1930’s and we are not sure how much longer it can hang on. The big shippers are a couple of coal mines cattle and sheep and a large saw mill. This On30 layout is being built in a 30x33 foot shop building. About half of the scenery is complete and 95% of the track work is in and running. We run a mixture of locomotives from Bachmann, BLI, PCM, and MMI, some of these are a little lost but we like them because they run so well.
Presently there are over 200 pieces of rolling stock on the layout not counting the passenger equipment which we have too much of. We would very much enjoy sharing our efforts at modeling this fictions railroad in the plague gauge of On30 with everybody.
